Renae Mantooth, Ph.D.

Design Researcher

As an education sector design researcher with HKS, Dr. Renae Mantooth explores the intersection between spatial experiences and learning processes in both K-12 and Higher Ed environments. With a PhD in Design, MS in Educational Psychology, and BA in Interior Design, Dr. Mantooth’s experience uniquely positions her to investigate how the built environment influences both learning and teaching.

Dr. Mantooth works to expand the breadth of knowledge that explores human behavior, motivation, and wellbeing in educational settings to inform equity-centered evidence-based design practices. Centering people through inclusive practices, Dr. Mantooth is driven by understanding how intersecting identities influence the meaning students associate with their built environments.
